History

1880

The Ousoultzoglou family has a long-standing tradition in the cotton industry, with over 120 years of experience. The first ginning mill dates back to the second half of the 19th century in the Adana region of Turkey.

1934

Prodromos Ousoultzoglou the elder, who passed away in 1984, came to Greece from Turkey in 1922 and established the family’s first Cotton Ginning Mills in Greece in 1934 in Veria. Due to increasing progress and the need for larger facilities, the ginning mill was relocated in 1955 to 19 Thessalonikis Street in Veria.

1978

In 1978, the first year that Nikolaos Ousoultzoglou, son of Prodromos, took over the leadership of the company, 60-70% of its products were exported to former Eastern Bloc countries such as Romania, Yugoslavia, Czechoslovakia, and Russia, while the remaining 30-40% was directed to the domestic market.

1980

During the 1980s, under the presidency of Nikolaos Ousoultzoglou, the company experienced rapid growth. Export demands were met through investments in new machinery and storage facilities, as well as by renting additional ginning units and purchasing stocks of Greek seed cotton from other ginning mills.

1990

By 1990, the company was exporting over 20,000 tons of ginned cotton to countries in the European Union, the Balkans, and the Far East.

1996

In 1996, Nikolaos Ousoultzoglou invested in a new ginning mill in the area of Kypseli, in the prefecture of Imathia, which remains the company’s headquarters to this day. The ginning mill’s processing capacity increased to 500 tons of seed cotton per day, producing 250 tons of cottonseed and 180 tons of ginned cotton.

2012

By 2012, the company was exporting over 90% of its products. Since then, Prodromos Ousoultzoglou Jr. and Georgios Ousoultzoglou, sons of Nikolaos Ousoultzoglou, have been active members of the company, both holding the position of Executive Director.

2012

As a result of the family’s continuous efforts toward progress and growth, in 2012 the company expanded its business activities by targeting new markets and adding new products to its trade portfolio, including durum wheat, soft wheat, and barley.
