Cottonseed
After the delivery of the seed cotton to the ginning plant, the ginning process follows, i.e. the separation of the seed cotton into cotton seed and ginned cotton.
Cottonseed is a high-quality animal feed that requires no additional processing. However, with proper processing, cottonseed can be used to produce cottonseed oil as well as cottonseed meal (a type of animal feed).
Ginned cotton
The second product resulting from the ginning of the seed cotton is ginned cotton.
This is the product free of foreign matter (leaves, seeds, various organic materials, etc.) which is sold to spinning mills through traders or directly for the production of various types of yarn.

“Cotton, the ‘white gold’ of Greek soil, remains a timeless value and a preferred crop for Greek farmers. The term ‘seed cotton’ refers to cotton during its harvesting phase from the field. The company G&P COTTON GINNERS S.A. purchases seed cotton from Greek producers, stores it in specially designed facilities, and then proceeds with its processing.”
